Il Servo di Scena (1983)
“È la storia di un vecchio attore e del suo servo di scena che è suggeritore, lo lava, lo veste, lo aiuta in tutto. Ho scelto questo film perché quando lavoravo con Gabriele Lavia, gli altri attori mi dicevano continuamente che gli ricordavo il personaggio di questo film, che io ancora non avevo visto. Questo è successo con tutti i grandi che ho affiancato, facevo da suggeritore ed ero sempre l’assistente più vicino, quindi ne ascoltavo gli scazzi, ne vedevo il lato più umano. Poi ho visto il film ed effettivamente ho visto me stesso, perché è anche una filosofia, un modo di servire la star, il grande attore, nei suoi difetti, nelle sue follie: lo vai a recuperare quando è ubriaco o quando ha i suoi deliri e non riesce ad andare in scena e tu riesci comunque a farlo salire sul palco. E tu fai tutto questo pensando al bene supremo: il Teatro. Adesso che sono cresciuto sono io ad avere il servo di scena, che rispetto molto perché è fondamentale”

The Dresser (1983)
“It’s about an old actor and his dresser that is also a prompter, he washes him, he dresses him, he helps him with everything. I chose this movie because when I used to work with Gabriele Lavia, other actors told me, again and again, that I reminded them the character of this movie, that I didn’t see yet. This is happened with all the great actors that I had collaborate with, I was a prompter and I always was the closest assistant, so I heard their complaints, I saw their human side. Then I saw the movie and indeed I saw myself in it, because it’s also a philosophy, a way to support the star, the great actor, with his flaws and his insanity: you go to get back him when he’s drunk or when he has his delusions so he can’t go acting and you are able to bring him to the stage anyway. And you do all that stuff thinking about the highest good: the Theatre. Now I grew up and I have my helper, that I respect a lot because he’s fundamental”
