“In my life I’ve tried to bring together all my passions, which are many, including circus arts and medicine. Sometimes my life reminds me of Big Fish. When I tell people about my experiences in the circus world, they both believe me and don’t believe me, the stories are so strange (like a Guinness World Record in Yucatán) that they immediately have a Big Fish effect, it’s like a syndrome. A few years ago, when I was working in a warehouse, I shot a commercial as a juggler for Discovery Channel: it was seen at work and my boss asked me if I was actually the one in the commercial. I replied, ‘If I could really do those things, do you think I’d be working in a warehouse?’. I didn’t tell the truth because revealing yourself changes the balance. Even now that I work in a hospital, when I arrived people had already seen me on TV, everyone recognizes me because of the mirror act, which was broadcast in Italy and around the world. Unfortunately, you instantly become popular, which is wrong, because I could be the greatest impostor in the world and people end up judging you based on a single episode of your life rather than on what you’ve actually studied. In the end, you become a prisoner of your own stories”

“Nella mia vita ho cercato di unire tutte le passioni che ho, che sono tante, tra cui circo e medicina. Ogni tanto la mia vita mi ricorda Big Fish: spesso quando racconto una delle mie esperienze sul mondo circense la gente ci crede e non ci crede, sono storie talmente strane (ad esempio un World Guinness Record nello Yucatan) che fanno subito l’effetto Big Fish, è come una sindrome. Qualche anno fa, quando lavoravo come magazziniere, avevo girato una pubblicità come giocoliere per il Discovery Channel: al lavoro è stata vista e il mio capo mi domandò se fossi effettivamente io quello nella pubblicità. Io gli risposi: ‘Se sapessi fare certe cose, ti pare che lavorerei dentro a un magazzino?’. Non ho detto la verità perché rivelarsi cambia gli equilibri. Anche adesso, che lavoro in ospedale, quando sono arrivato già mi avevano visto in tv, tutti mi riconoscono grazie al numero dello specchio, che era stato in televisione in Italia e ha girato il mondo: purtroppo diventi immediatamente popolare, che è una cosa sbagliata perché io potrei essere il più grande impostore del mondo e le persone finiscono per basarsi su un semplice episodio della mia vita e non su dove ho studiato o che studi ho fatto. Alla fine diventi prigioniero delle tue storie”
