The 400 Blows (Les 400 Coups) gave me powerful emotions: a child who dreams of seeing the sea, growing up in the hostile environment of family, school, and an oppressive society. Before watching the film, I had seen the audition of Jean-Pierre Léaud. I was thirteen, the same age as he is in the film, and I immediately thought about how charismatic he was. I admired him right away and knew I absolutely had to watch the film”

“Mi sento particolarmente legato alla Nouvelle Vague e a Truffaut. I 400 Colpi mi ha trasmesso delle emozioni importanti. Un bambino che sogna di vedere il mare, cresciuto nell’ambiente ostile della famiglia, della scuola, di una società opprimente. Prima di vedere il film ho visto il provino di Jean Pierre Leaud, avevo tredici anni, quindi la stessa età che l’attore ha nel film, e ho subito pensato a quanto fosse carismatico. Ho ammirato subito l’attore e ho pensato che dovevo vedere assolutamente il film”
