“Lessons of Darkness (Lektionen in Finsternis) changed my life. I watched it and understood many things about how the world works. It’s a 1992 documentary, which also happens to be the year I was born. It was shot in Kuwait, where Werner Herzog, after the bombings, goes to see what’s left in the desert. There are destroyed oil wells, and there’s that line saying that oil is treacherous because it disguises itself as water. This film made me understand many things about life, about human nature, which is born to destroy. Of course there is also love, but at the core there is also a lot of cruelty. For me, Herzog is the greatest human being who has ever lived, he is my God”

“Apocalisse nel Deserto mi ha cambiato la vita: l’ho visto e ho capito tante cose su come funziona il mondo. È un documentario del 1992, che tra l’altro è lo stesso anno in cui sono nato. È stato girato in Kuwait dove Herzog, dopo il bombardamento, va a vedere cosa è rimasto nel deserto. Ci sono pozzi distrutti e c’è quella frase che dice che il petrolio è ingannevole, perché riflette il cielo. Questo film mi ha fatto capire tante cose sulla vita, su come è fatto l’essere umano, che è nato per distruggere. Ovviamente c’è anche l’amore, ma di base c’è anche molta cattiveria. Per me Herzog è il più grande essere umano mai esistito, è il mio Dio”
