Memento (2000)

This is the film that made me understand the importance of the moment, but also its connection to memory, how important our perception of the moment we’re living is, and at the same time how it relates to what we remember. The moment has to be seized, but in reality it expands and becomes connected to who you have been. The first time I watched it, I identified so strongly with the main character that I almost forgot to follow the story. I focused on him, on his energy. For me that’s unusual, because I studied screenwriting at the Academy in Bari, and normally I tend to follow the narrative of a film very closely. The key, for me, was perspective, because I started analyzing it from a completely new point of view”
