“I chose a short film by Pier Paolo Pasolini because it’s him, it’s my choice, I couldn’t name another one. I like What Are the Clouds? first of all because there’s theater in it, but above all because there’s life. The film is a reinterpretation of Othello, performed by puppets, and the characters play roles that don’t reflect their true personalities. Maybe at one time I saw life that way, moving forward and doing things without really having control over them. In the film, Iago has to do what he does and, even though he can’t act differently because the story is already written, it still surprises you because you realize that we don’t really have control over our lives either. At the end these puppets are thrown away and they see the sky for the first time. They look at the clouds and get emotional with the wonder of a child facing life. I also hope to still be amazed in that way”

“Ho scelto un cortometraggio di Pasolini perché è lui, è il mio, non potrei dirne un altro. Che Cosa Sono le Nuvole? mi piace innanzitutto perché c’è il teatro, ma soprattutto c’è la vita. Il film è una rivisitazione dell’Otello, recitato da marionette, e i personaggi impersonano un ruolo che non riflette la loro personalità. Forse un tempo vedevo la vita così: andare avanti e fare cose senza avere un reale controllo su di esse. Nel film Iago deve fare quello che fa e, anche se non può fare diversamente, perché la storia è già scritta, ti sorprende perché ti rendi conto che anche noi non abbiamo il controllo della nostra vita. Nel finale queste marionette vengono buttate via e vedono il cielo per la prima volta, guardano le nuvole e si emozionano con lo stupore di un bambino nei confronti della vita. Anche io spero di meravigliarmi ancora in questo modo”
