“I’m not a violent person, that aspect has nothing to do with me, but there’s this tendency toward self-destruction, this urge to push yourself to the limit until you break, and that fascinates me. I feel like there are these two sides of me fighting each other, the more rational one and the more impulsive one. I have a kind of inner Fight Club. We all want to be Tyler Durden, we all have him inside us but we keep him under control because we don’t want him to come out. The first time I saw it I had just broken up with my first serious girlfriend, so I decided to watch this film and it was a revelation. Every scene felt like it was telling me to grow up. I even got the quote tattooed, ‘It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything’. You have to free yourself from the structures society imposes on you, say screw it all and stop having constraints, which is a bit of the reason why I chose to become an actor. Choose Tyler Durden and you can’t go wrong”

“Non sono un tipo violento, questo aspetto non c’entra niente con me, c’è però questa indole all’autodistruzione, questo spingersi fino al limite fino a che ti spezzi, è qualcosa che mi affascina. Sento che ci sono queste due parti di me che fanno a cazzotti, quella più razionale e quella più impulsiva. Ho una sorta di Fight Club interiore, tutti vorremmo essere Tyler Durden, tutti lo abbiamo dentro ma lo teniamo a bada perché non vogliamo che venga fuori. La prima volta che l’ho visto mi ero appena mollato con la mia prima ragazza importante, decisi di vedere questo film e fu una rivelazione: ogni scena sembrava che mi dicesse di crescere. Mi sono tatuato la frase “È solo dopo aver perso tutto che siamo liberi di fare qualsiasi cosa”: bisogna liberarsi delle sovrastrutture che la società ci impone, mandare tutto a fanculo e non avere più vincoli, che è un po’ il motivo per cui ho scelto di fare l’attore.
