“Dead Poets Society embodies what a teacher should be: an educator, someone who influences you and can truly change your life. Maybe that’s why I’ve always looked for mentors in my life, some of them a bit unusual, unconventional, but capable of inspiring me. One of them, for example, a professor of medicine I had, studied Persian because he wanted to write a novel in that language, he mastered Latin, but with a Neapolitan accent. These are the kinds of people who change your life, they shape the way you think, they show you how to live. Luckily, I’ve had three or four of them. Figures like this are always out there, you just have to look for them. They teach you to live lightly, to glide over things from above”

“L’Attimo Fuggente incarna ciò che dovrebbe essere un maestro: un educatore, una figura che ti influenza e può davvero cambiarti la vita. Forse è per questo che nella mia vita ho sempre cercato maestri, alcuni anche un po’ strani, non canonici, ma che sono stati in grado di ispirarmi. Uno di questi, ad esempio, un mio professore di medicina, studiava il persiano perché voleva scrivere un romanzo in quella lingua, padroneggiava il latino, ma con l’accento napoletano. Sono persone così che ti cambiano la vita, influenzano il tuo modo di pensare, indicano la strada per vivere: io per fortuna ne ho avute tre o quattro. Figure del genere ci sono sempre, basta cercarle. Ti insegnano a vivere con leggerezza, a planare sulle cose dall’alto”
