Film People Project

Film People Project is a photographic archive of people and the films that shaped their lives

Your Films

Not everyone can take part in the project in person, but every story still deserves to be told. This space is for those who want to share their film and the personal connection behind it, from anywhere in the world. If you can’t be photographed in Rome, you can still be part of Film People. Your film, your story, belongs here: share your favorite film.

🟡 Paul – Field of Dreams
“My dad dïed a short while before Field of Dreams release and when I watched it I realised there were so many things I still wanted to say to him. Ray gets that chance!”

🟡 Marica – Begin Again
“In Begin Again I really loved seeing how, after a breakup, the protagonist manages to rise again, to reinvent herself, to find who she truly is. The way she redirects her life, how she’s able to begin anew, suggests that sometimes you have to lose yourself in order to find yourself again. I saw myself in many moments, it’s a film that can bring a lot of comfort, because it’s light yet deeply meaningful: when things go wrong and difficulties arise, that’s exactly when a great opportunity can emerge, a kind of redemption, maybe even something more beautiful waiting ahead”

🟡 Kiki – Wings of Desire
“Definitely Wings of Desire: not only a beautiful movie but a historical document of a divided Berlin”

🟡 Catherine – Desk Set
“Always loved the older movies, better writing/acting. Desk Set was already my favorite for a few years when my mother became ill with cancer and I was her caregiver. Although she had a fairly easy time of it, the days were long and I had trouble sleeping. This movie lulled me to sleep almost every night for that long but short year of losing my mother a little each day. It comforted me and made me laugh and several times I was able to fall asleep during the beginning credits but kept it on in case I woke up”

🟡 Emma – Stand By Me
“I watched Stand By Me for the first time when I was about 12 so the same age the characters are in the film. I remember crying during Gordie’s narration at the end when he’s explaining what happened to their friendship and what became of them all as adults. I just found it so sad that they all gradually lost touch after going through this profound experience together and that Chris had died. I know that’s real to life though because very few people will have the same group of friends their whole life, and as we get older our priorities change, we move away, we change jobs, get married, have children etc and that means losing touch with people you were once close to is inevitable”

🟡 Octavia – Labyrinth
Labyrinth. Entire new world of characters and dialogue. Things are not as they seem, some things are lost and other found: great friends, fun music, a world within a world. Fairies don’t have to be beautiful and nice, ugly creatures can be great fun. Changes perspective of the whole world”

Labyrinth.
