Film People Project is a photographic archive of people and the films that shaped their lives

Portrait from Film People Project, Monopoli. Alberto holding a board with his favorite film: Once Upon a Time in America

“I’ve always had a soft spot for gangster movies, but Once Upon a Time in America has something more, a unique kind of poetry. It’s about friendship, human weaknesses, but at its core it’s really about time, regret, memory. I’m a very nostalgic person, someone who constantly lives in the past, even though I still have a future ahead of me, and the way the film deals with the past feels deeply personal. As kids, it’s natural to grow up together with friends, like a family, but as you get older the darker sides emerge, that sense of purity fades. Everyone has their own problems, their own life, and you drift apart, losing everything that once felt beautiful. It happens to everyone, even now. I miss those times”
